Plaice worked with the Wickham Market Village Hall Rebuild Committee to replace the village’s outdated, hidden hall with a new one and a half storey “modern barn” that sits low in the landscape but is brought forward to give it a civic presence on the High Street. Its flexible, multi-functional layout, improved parking and robust materials serve a wide range of community uses, and it gives the volunteer-run Archive Centre a permanent home.
We produced an illustrated guest map for Fritton Lake, a private holiday club set within a thousand-acre rewilding estate. After exploring the grounds, we combined freehand sketches and rendering into an attractive, readable map that helps members navigate the estate and discover its activities.
Plaice designed a new village hall for Huntingfield, built to serve the whole parish for the next 50 years. Its curved plan embraces the village green and creates a new meeting place at the heart of the community. A floating, ribbon-glazed roof acts as a beacon, and a full-width veranda on pilotis provides shade and extends use during village fetes.
Plaice designed a landscape-led layout for holiday lodges in a locally designated Special Landscape Area. A Landscape and Visual Assessment shaped both the planting concept and the cabin positions, so guests enjoy the setting while the impact on the wider environment is kept low.
