Plaice have submitted a planning application on behalf of Suffolk Coastal District Council for a proposed development in the heart of Felixstowe South Seafront.

The proposal sets out plans for a new restaurant, café and events space in Martello Park, the design of which will be based around strong coastal themes and sympathetically balances its sensitive location whilst also being an iconic visual draw to the South Seafront area.

Plaice provided designs for an engagement event that was held by Suffolk Coastal District Council, through Felixstowe Forward, in July 2018 to seek the views of local people about plans for Felixstowe’s future. The majority of the feedback received was positive and supportive.

The members of the Wickham Market Village Hall New Build Group and Plaice Design carried out a very well attended public consultation with the residents of Wickham Market and surrounding areas to gauge their opinions on the design of their new Village Hall.

The meeting on Saturday 27th January asked residents to give views on two schemes produced by Plaice Design, which varied on whether the Wickham Market archive centre is located on the ground or first floor, the size of the hall’s footprint and available space for car parking.

Margaret Holland Group Chairman said 120 people gave their views. “Generally, they’ve been really impressed by the work that has been done so far. We want to provide a ‘hall for all’ to bring in as many different users as possible. We are trying to improve the facilities to get the bookings back again. And we also want to encourage the artistic side of the village by having display areas with the appropriate lighting.”

Plaice will now assist with the collation of the comments and finalise designs ready to submit for Planning in due course for the proposed £1.6m project.

Plaice are pleased to announce that one of their first projects undertaken in Woodbridge has been shortlisted for Suffolk Coastal’s Quality of Place Awards.

The project, an alteration and extension to a 1960’s property in Sandy Lane, Woodbridge is a bold and dramatic scheme, which set out to completely overhaul the existing property, almost doubling its footprint.

Our clients were particularly hands on and although a main contractor was used to form the basic shell, the clients project managed the job themselves and also carried out a large proportion of the work, including installation of the insulated render boarding, cladding, plumbing and decoration works.

The end result is a light filled open plan dwelling, which embraces the garden and responds well to modern day family life.
