An existing three bedroom dwelling in Ipswich, Suffolk which was refurbished and extended to provide a modern five bedroom family home for its new owners is now complete.

The brief, was to provide a side and rear extension to cater for a new Utility, Study, open plan Living Room and Kitchen to open up and engage with the garden, along with two new first floor Bedrooms and En-suite. The existing dwelling was extensively refurbished to provide a re-modeled Family Bathroom, Dining Room and Sitting Room.

The project also consisted of upgrading the existing timber windows, and installing a striking green roof to the new rear extension.

The scheme was recently acknowledged by Ipswich Borough Council Building Control as an exemplary example of successfully extending a domestic property, and was put forward as an entry to the LABC East Anglia Building Excellence awards.

Plaice are pleased to announce that one of their first projects undertaken in Woodbridge has been shortlisted for Suffolk Coastal’s Quality of Place Awards.

The project, an alteration and extension to a 1960’s property in Sandy Lane, Woodbridge is a bold and dramatic scheme, which set out to completely overhaul the existing property, almost doubling its footprint.

Our clients were particularly hands on and although a main contractor was used to form the basic shell, the clients project managed the job themselves and also carried out a large proportion of the work, including installation of the insulated render boarding, cladding, plumbing and decoration works.

The end result is a light filled open plan dwelling, which embraces the garden and responds well to modern day family life.
